How do you decide whether a tree can be preserved?
We consider the tree’s health, structure, location, surrounding property, potential risk, and long-term outlook. When preservation is practical and responsible, options may include pruning, monitoring, improving growing conditions, or other risk-reduction measures. When those options are not appropriate, removal may be recommended.
How do you keep technical tree climbing safe?
Safety begins with planning. Before climbing, we evaluate the tree, work area, potential hazards, equipment, rigging needs, and surrounding property. Professional climbing systems, appropriate PPE, communication, and established work practices are used throughout the job.
When do arborists use climbing spurs?
Climbing spurs are generally reserved for tree removals or situations where damage to living tissue is not a concern. For pruning and preservation work, we typically use climbing techniques that avoid unnecessary injury to the tree.
Can you work in rainy or snowy weather?
Tree work can often be performed in typical Pacific Northwest weather. However, conditions such as strong winds, lightning, ice, heavy snow, or other hazards may require work to be postponed. Safety and site conditions determine whether work can proceed.
How do you protect my home, yard, and landscape during tree work?
Each project is planned around the tree and the property. We consider homes, fences, gardens, driveways, utilities, vehicles, and other sensitive areas. When necessary, we use rigging and controlled-lowering techniques to manage branches and wood carefully.
What happens to branches, logs, and wood chips after tree work?
Cleanup options are discussed before the project begins. Branches may be chipped and removed, logs may be hauled away or left for firewood, and wood chips may either remain on the property or be removed depending on the agreed scope of work.
